Mental Health Nursing Simulation and Skills Teacher

Opportunity Overview

This is an exciting position in which you, as a member of our vibrant simulation and skills team, will play a key role in the creative design and delivery of specialist mental health nursing simulation and skills such as risk management, mental state assessment, and the development and maintenance of therapeutic relationships. This position reflects the growth of this area of education, and our commitment to ensuring parity of esteem of mental health nursing skills across the fields of practice.

 Day to day role and key responsibilities:

  • Developing skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of mental health nursing students (and other fields) through simulation and skills teaching.
  • With a focus on mental health nursing, design, develop, deliver and evaluate evidence-based teaching material and resources across a range of modules, and programmes of study.
  • Contribute to the planning, design and development of course and curriculum objectives and material, ensuring the professional, educational and clinical credibility of simulated practice components.
  • Supervise, mark and assess coursework and examinations, providing feedback to nursing students as part of a module team.
  • Fulfil the role of personal tutor and academic assessor to a group of mental health nursing students.

 Essential Criteria:

  • Current NMC registration as a mental health nurse
  • Honours degree in a health-related subject
  • Minimum of two years post-registration clinical experience
