Travel Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our in-house travel team as Travel Manager!

Your duties will include maintaining strong relationships across all areas of the University and you will also be responsible for the provision of management information enabling visibility of travel and the associated costs and ensuring the delivery of a cost-effective service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being responsible for the monitoring, developing and the implementation of travel systems and procedures
  • Provide members of staff with information and advice on business travel and policy
  • Utilise framework contracts, and direct supplier relationships to provide a wide range of product options that provide value for money whilst complying with policy and regulation
  • Make decisions on the best way to proceed when faced with difficult requests and complaints, and find solutions which ensure the continued provision of a customer friendly service
  • Ensure the dissemination of information to a wider audience in terms of planned strikes, changes to policy, and other incidents, utilising our in-house security platform
  • Ensure that travellers understand the risk assessment requirements and that these are carried out and that travel plans accommodate these risks to meet the University's duty of careLiaise with the University Health and Safety team and University’s Insurers when required.

The University of Salford’s Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the institution and its subsidiaries. The department is made up of a team of 70 staff and provides a full range of financial services to the University. The Finance team work closely with Academic Units and Professional Services to maximise opportunities and ensure financial sustainability.
