Do you want to become part of the Green flag Award winning Landscape team?  Do you enjoy working outdoors?

The University of Salford has an exciting new opportunity for a new Gardener to service the whole University with a range of different tasks.

Applicants will need to be organised and capable of working on their own initiative to carry out scheduled works on a variety of sites in and around the Campus.  The ideal candidate will be able to complete gardening work to set deadlines and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mow, edge and fertilise lawns and sports fields
  • Weed and mulch landscapes
  • Trim hedges, shrubs and small trees
  • Plant flowers, trees and shrubs
  • Apply herbicides, fungicides or insecticides on plants or soil to prevent or control weeds
  • Winter services – gritting and snow clearance
  • Various other Landscape duties

Relevant qualifications (NVQ Horticulture Lvl 2 -3) and experience (5 years +) in the sector is desirable although the right candidate will be provided with training to close any skills gaps identified. A full clean driving licence would be an advantage as would tractor and trailer and PA1 and PA6 NPTC spraying licences.

Salford are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all sections of society.

A bit about Estates and Facilities Services…

Our Estates and Facilities team lead the development of our campus, creating engaging and innovative learning, working and living environments for colleagues, students, and partners. The Directorate has over 300 employees and works with a wide range of external contractors.

The services arm of the Directorate is responsible for delivering full estates and facilities management to the University, including capital development, property maintenance, cleaning, security, caretaking and landscaping. Covering 33 buildings across the estate, split currently across 5 sites.

Led by the Estates and Facilities team, the University is undergoing a transformation to deliver its Campus Masterplan. Together with Salford City Council and The English Cities Fund, there will be an investment of £2.5bn over the next 20-years, as part of the Crescent regeneration programme. This investment will transform our campus and create a new city district that will bring together industry, education, and innovation.
