A bit about the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technologies…

We're one of the leading centres for practice-based education in the creative disciplines within the North West. We are the heart of creativity in Salford, offering a programme of events that encourage engagement with our staff, students, industry and the local community. The Digital Curation Lab (DCL) is designed to create opportunities for all to explore the intersections of digital technology, creative arts, information management, humanities, social sciences, and associated areas of engagement.

We are now looking for an inspiring Digital Curation Lab Coordinator who has a strong professional profile and significant experience in project management involving digital technology to join the University of Salford's Digital Curation Lab.

So what will the role involve?

You will be required to acquire, develop and maintain positive working relationships with Digital Curation Lab's service clients. You will also be involved in preparing and delivering relevant promotional activities associated with the Digital Curation Lab's digital preservation services. You should be able to work with potential clients across the GLAM (gallery, library, archive, and museum) sector.

You will apply specialist skills and expertise to the needs of DCL's clients whilst ensuring you are constantly updating knowledge in order that our clients are working to the expectations of digital preservation standards. The role also involves coordinating with postgraduate students working to provide digital curation services to the DCL's clients.

You will have specialist skills in project management, including successful grant writing, along with professional knowledge and understanding of digital curation and/or digital preservation.

You will have experience working in the GLAM sector and/or with HE institutions and be well-versed in the use of techniques and processes used within the provision of document digitisation and digital preservation services; our understanding of documents extends from paper-based materials to audio-visual recordings.

An opportunity for Continuing Professional Development in Project Management will be made available to you, as offered through the University of Salford's Programme Management Office. Other CPD opportunities will also be available through our membership of the Digital Preservation Coalition.

You will be joining the Digital Curation Lab, which is led by experienced academics and industry professionals in supporting our clients within a rich and stimulating digital preservation studio environment.

Please note this is a part time (0.4fte), fixed term (until 31/08/2023) opportunity.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Director Paul Vivian at p.f.vivian@salford.ac.uk .

Within your cover letter/personal statement it is suggested that you address how you meet the criteria listed in the person specification.
