Salford has a rich history and an exciting future; we sit at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, and actively engage with stakeholders across the region to embed our industry collaboration activity, ensuring our students receive the best possible experience and are fit for their future beyond university.

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Dean – Research and Innovation in the School of Health & Society.  The School is large, with over 8,000 students and coverage of disciplines from public and allied health, nursing and midwifery, psychology and sport, policing and social sciences.  Our research portfolio involves substantial income from a variety of funding bodies, and a lively community of over 120 researchers and 180 postgraduate research students.  We have excellent partnership links and a serious commitment to connecting research with enterprise and engagement activity and feeding our work into the improvement of our student experiences through our extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. In a rapidly changing world, the School is keen to leave a productive legacy of supporting people at all stages of their lives, improving physical, psychological and social wellbeing.

The post holder will be the strategic developer and coordinator of School activity related to research and innovation. You should be a dynamic leader, with a personally strong research track record, in a relevant discipline.  You should also have significant experience of research management and extensive knowledge of relevant external policy and strategy. You will join a well-established senior leadership team in the school which has a strong culture of collegiality, collaboration and the desire to deal with challenges in a productive fashion. We are a collaborative School more generally and value this quality in a leadership context in addition to being inclusive and encouraging.

The School is highly multi-disciplinary in nature and it is important that this role is able to assist in making connections happen within this environment. You should also be confident engaging with external partners and be able to broker strategic relationships. We are looking to develop even stronger links between enterprise, engagement and research and the post holder will be expected to collaborate closely with our Associate Dean Enterprise and Engagement to ensure that we succeed in this ambition.
