About the Team

 

This role will sit with the Alumni Engagement and Development Team, which has responsibility for both alumni engagement and philanthropic activity. The Alumni Team specifically is charged with building lifelong connections with our alumni community via an integrated programme of communication and engagement. Our 200,000 strong alumni community represents every sector at every level across the globe. Managed well they are our greatest asset in championing the work and impact of our university. Producing work ready graduates is at the heart of all we do, and our alumni community are an important enabler of this. We look to our alumni to inspire, guide and support those that follow in their footsteps – this role is critical in facilitating this activity with a particular focus within two of the University’s four schools: Salford Business School and the School of Health and Society.

 

The Role

 

The ideal candidate for this post will be an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced alumni engagement professional. Able to work closely with the institution’s senior leadership, its staff and students, and with an aptitude for nurturing and building relationships with key alumni and volunteers, you will bring the skills required to maintain and develop a suite of strategic engagement activities. This role is regarded as key to supporting our ambitions to shape a growing alumni engagement programme in support of the University’s core strategic goals and reports directly to the Alumni Engagement Manager.

 

Our aim is to engage alumni to be active participants in a lifelong relationship with the University of Salford, as ambassadors, mentors, volunteers and donors. The post-holder will also develop and co-ordinate activity to provide our graduates with the opportunity to continue their professional development and lifelong learning, network with peers and engage in the life of the University for mutual benefit.

 

This role includes particular responsibility for delivering a programme of engagement and involvement opportunities to alumni on behalf of two Schools (Salford Business School and the School of Health and Society). You will need to build great relationships with colleagues at all levels in the Schools, spotting and maximising opportunities and employing strong influencing and negotiation skills. Your role will be to ensure the implementation of targeted activity to meet the Schools’ particular needs in delivering against the University’s core strategic aims, including student satisfaction and experience, employability, recruitment and engagement with industry.

 

Applicants should be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) and have relevant work experience in either alumni relations or a related field (fundraising, public relations, account management or similar). You will have excellent skills in communications, event management, and database maintenance; as well as experience of effectively engaging others in a wide variety of initiatives.
