A bit about the School of Arts, Media & Creative Technology…

We're one of the leading centres for practice-based education in the creative disciplines within the North West. We are the heart of creativity in Salford, offering a programme of events that encourage engagement with our staff, students, industry and the local community.

Our £55 million New Adelphi flagship building offers a diverse range of spaces and equipment to suit all creative requirements and we are also the only UK university to have a campus at MediaCityUK - an international media hub with neighbours such as the BBC and ITV , with industry-standard facilities that offers a professional environment for you to teach and our students to learn.

The school has a strong legacy of successful alumni across a range of fields, including actors, stand-up comedians, musicians, journalists and designers.

What we have on offer…

Wondering what or where your next challenge is coming from? Enjoy meeting new people and building relationships? Then look no further!

We have an exciting opportunity within the team for a Creative Technical Demonstrator in Journalism. We are looking for an individual who has experience in the TV News Industry and who is comfortable demonstrating the technology to others.

You will have plenty of opportunity to put your strong written and verbal communication skills into action and connect with people and build trusting relationships to generate the best possible solutions for the University, its students and its staff – CO-CREATING.

Thriving in a fast-paced environment, with a flexible approach, whilst engaging and influencing you will take personal responsibility for your learning and actively contribute to the University’s learning culture and the learning experience of its students - LEARNING. You will take pride in this role and own it and navigate new situations and boldly decide, act and challenge whilst supporting others to do the same – DARING.

As a key player, your exceptional teamwork skills will come into play daily and at the same time we will give you the autonomy to go off and make your own decisions.

We aim to create an inspirational, inclusive learning and working environment, celebrating the diversity of our University community. At Salford you’ll be encouraged to innovate, be courageous and unstoppable, to ensure we're all working to a shared goal of delivering a great experience for our students and wider community.

For more information or for an informal chat, please contact Neil Salmon, Technical Team Leader, at n.salmon@salford.ac.uk.

Please ensure you provide evidence in your cover letter/personal statement of how you meet the criteria in the attached Person Specification.

What’s in it for you?

With over 200 languages spoken across Greater Manchester, we want to create an inspirational, inclusive learning and working environment, celebrating the diversity of our University community in our everyday conversations. Our student population is already incredibly diverse, and we want to ensure this is reflected across our colleague profile as well.

To help you, we have wide ranging colleague support networks, promoting awareness events throughout the year and giving you the opportunity to share your experiences with others. Our extensive faith centre facilities reflect our continuing commitment to support the student and colleague experience and the beliefs and values you bring to our community.

There is a varied benefits package available through ‘MySalford’ where you can tailor your benefits to suit your own lifestyle – everything from additional annual leave, savings on High Street shopping, travel discounts as well as health and wellbeing support. To maintain work/life balance, when appropriate you can connect to work from wherever you are. Whether it’s our Peel Park Campus, MediaCityUK or your couch at home, the tools are there for you to do your best work. Flexibility on working from home is supported where possible, however the role will be based on the University of Salford campus.

However you identify, whatever your pathway has been to get here, come and join us at the University of Salford where we are all proud to belong - watch us in action here!
