So, what is it you will be doing as a Handyperson?

The Facilities Team are proud of the part they play in keeping our campus a pleasant, well maintained space and enjoyable place to be for all. As a Handyperson no two days are the same, which makes this a really interesting and varied role.

As a friendly, approachable and professional person with high standards, you will take pride in maintaining and ensuring the campus and buildings are always pleasant, inviting and fit for purpose for students, staff and members of the public alike.

Working both inside and outside campus buildings, you will carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, from changing a tap washer, painting an office, to completing Statutory Checks, such Fire Alarm Testing. Not only that, it allows for plenty of opportunity to get your steps in with being on your feet all day!

As a Handyperson you will work a 5 day week, Monday to Friday, the hours of which can vary between 0800 and 2000. The majority of shifts however are 0800-1600 or 0900-1700.

Whilst working on your own initiative in the main but also as part of the wider Estates team, your strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional customer care skills will shine through in this role, as you complete your general maintenance tasks and tend to queries and situations that arise daily.
You will arrange, carry out and update customers on the various works we are required to complete. The ability to report on all situations that make up your day is really important. This is the time to show off those excellent writing skills!

Collectively we want to improve and expand on the Universities approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). It will be part of the Handy Person role to contribute towards creating an inclusive culture where all our students and staff recognise themselves in those that surround them and can bring their whole selves to the University.
