Who are we looking for?

The Estates and Facilities Division at the University of Salford are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Carbon and Energy Manager to join the Environmental Sustainability Team to have a key role in the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero Carbon commitment.

Your experience and knowledge of carbon reduction and energy management will be instrumental in the University achieving its long-term sustainability strategy. Working closely with estates maintenance and capital teams, we are looking for someone with extensive experience of energy efficiency and carbon reduction project work in non-domestic buildings. Working familiarity with building management systems would be beneficial.

To succeed in this role, you will be able to work effectively as part of a team with the ability to influence others in energy and carbon matters.  With problem-solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities for and use latest technologies and best practice to help energy and carbon reduction in our buildings, you will be expected to operate in a highly professional manner, communicating effectively, building and maintaining effective relationships across the University

What will the role involve?

The role has responsibility for building energy and carbon management across the institution, including;

  • monitoring building operational performance,
  • carbon reduction and energy efficiency project development
  • the development, implementation and monitoring of a buildings decarbonisation plan
  • supporting the reporting of relevant scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon data for the University’s net zero carbon plan
  • leading the energy elements of the Environmental and Energy Management System to ensure the ISO 50001 certification is maintained and ensuring compliance with any energy-related reporting and legal requirements
